Also for the 2007, for the forth running year, the review Winter in Florence promotes the calendar with the most interesting events scheduled for the winter season in Florence.

Thanks to the established collaboration with the Ufficio Centro Storico Patrimonio Mondiale UNESCO di Firenze, department of the assessorato alla Cultura del Comune, the programme of Winter in Florence this year will have as main theme the celebration of the 25^th Anniversary of the inscription of Florence in the UNESCO World Heritage list.

Many years have passed since that day, but Florence, today as then, has maintained intact its charm and continues to be one of the most attractive sites visited by thousands of tourists who every crowd its streets.

A city that with its unique preciousness represents an objective value, universally recognized, although through the years the city's appearance, contents and consequently its image projected -transmitted to the outside, have evolved.

The occasion for this recurrence becomes not only a precious opportunity to emphasize the importance of the protection and preservation of the historic centre, but also encourages to reflect on what effectively are the problematics to be dealt with on a daily basis.

Meetings, conferences and exhibitions to discuss and evaluate the delicate relation between who administers and a territory that more than any other has a rich history and tradition. A relation that to result positive by now can not prescind from the ability of comparing itself with the themes connected to the environment and the future possible development, to the services and the security, to a different way of managing and acknowledging tourism, to the culture and the cultural tendencies, to the new communication medias and avant-garde technologies.

In other words comparing itself with contemporaneity.

This is the reason behind the initiatives presented by the City Council of Florence in collaboration with organizations and private and public institutions, to emphasize the anniversary through a series of events of which Winter in Florence will be one of the main actors.

The events, that will go on from November until April, live their most intense moment around the 17^th of December, when on the same day, in 1982 the UNESCO declared Florence world heritage.

A series of initiatives organised and realized with three main aims: first of all, contributing to define the today's scenary; to open a constructive discussion that can help identify hypothetic projects for the future; finally, enrich and animate the winter season improving the offer for residents and tourists by proposing original events of art, culture and entertainment.

The contribution of the main city's authorities and the most representative entrepreneurial associations together with the most prestigious international and Italian institutions committed to the promotion of the city of Florence are fundamental for the successful result of the Winter in Florence review.
